Buttered Apples

- 30 g (1 oz) unsalted butter
- 1/2 kg (1 lb) hard sweet apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon caster (superfine) sugar
Preparation
- Place butter in a frying pan and melt over medium heat.
- Add the apples and sprinkle with sugar. Cook gently until the undersides of the apples are pale golden.
- Turn the slices over very gently, to avoid breaking them, and cook until golden and translucent.
- Serve warm.
