Buttered Apples

  • 30 g (1 oz) unsalted butter
  • 1/2 kg (1 lb) hard sweet apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon caster (superfine) sugar

Preparation

  1. Place butter in a frying pan and melt over medium heat.
  2. Add the apples and sprinkle with sugar. Cook gently until the undersides of the apples are pale golden.
  3. Turn the slices over very gently, to avoid breaking them, and cook until golden and translucent.
  4. Serve warm.
